On 02-04-2024, the National Convener of DSS was invited as a guest of honor at the inaugural ceremony of a newly constructed training centre building by Dalit Bahujan Resource Centre (DBRC), an NGO working for the Socio Economic and Cultural transformation of Waste Pickers and other informal workers in Andhra Pradesh. The building was constructed at Gorantla, Guntur, A.P. A conference was conducted on the eve of inaugural ceremony of the training centre. Sri. Anand Kumar, CEO of Phia Foundation, Delhi attended the conference as Chief Guest and inaugurated the new building. Mr. Deva Kumar, CEO of DBRC presided over the meeting. Other dignitaries that attended the meeting were: Sri. Y.L. Jayaraj, CEO of Alert, Sri. Vinay Kumar, General Secretary of Dalit Bahujan Front, Ms. Jhansi Geddam, National Convener of DSS. The centre was meant to empower the marginalized communities.
Jhansi Geddam, in her speech appreciated DBRC for providing a spacious building for conducting research and trainings to dalits. Every caste in the state has their own buildings to cater to the needs of their castes, except dalits. Now with this building dalits also have a training centre and a place to gather and discuss their issues. She appreciated Devakumar for his vision in providing a centre for dalits. She expressed the desire that the centre should be developed as a research centre for probing into the problems of dalits and dalit women.
All the speakers appreciated DBRC for the efforts in providing a good center for trainings of the marginalized sections. DBRC felicitated Jhansi Geddam and presented a memento.
